We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and are ready to ring in the New Year!  Toolroom takes over the top spot this week with Mark Knight’s take on Mike Mago’s “The Gift”. We get a taste of trance from Anjunabeats. Techno master Maceo Plex teams up with Gabriel Ananda for tech house daze.

1. Mike Mago – The Gift (Mark Knight Remix) (Toolroom)

Description: Kicking of the chart this week is another stellar Toolroom production. We’ll let Mike Mago explain the Gift: “Since the very beginnings of our existence we have filled our tribal or religious rituals with music; rituals to bond, to connect spiritually or just to let loose. I have no idea why we are so drawn to the 120-126 BPM four-to-the-floor. All I know is that House is the soundtrack to our modern day biggest ritual and I love being part of that. My aim is to create an energy on the dancefloor and, for me, its not about working strictly within the limit of a genre. Its about sharing the same taste and this exceeds genres. I found my inspiration for The Gift when I stumbled upon a video of a preacher on the internet, preaching that music is a gift of God and that, when we listen to music, we open up to the message of the lyrics.” Simply sensational, Mark Knight presents his take on Mike Mago’s astounding track, The Gift.

Layered with uplifting builds and synths for days, “Breather” captures organic energy and explodes with pure joy.

3. Maceo Plex, Gabriel Ananda – Solidarity Daze (Original Mix) (Ellum)

Rating: ★★★
Genre: Tech House
Origin: Spain
Description: Maceo Plex teams up with German techno counterpart Gabriel Ananda to deliver the momentous Solitary Daze, a truly awe inspiring piece of music. This circuitous track draws on darker vibes. It has a mixture of symphonic elements, devilish synths and downtempo bass pattern. Solitary Daze is nothing less then pure craftsmanship.

4. Gorgon City, Jennifer Hudson – Go All Night (Drew HIll Remix) (Virgin)

Rating: ★★★
Genre: Deep House
Origin: UK
Description: It’s not often you see too many commercial names on this countdown, but we will give Gorgon City plenty of credit for finding a good balance between pop status and maintaining organic productions. Drew Hill’s rendition is a sexy soulful downtempo rebranding combined with some uptempo garage elements. This is a surefire track on the house club dancefloors.

5. Kenny Ground – My Money (Original Mix) (Witty Tunes)

Rating: ★★★
Genre: Tech House
Origin: Switzerland
Description: Swiss producer, who we was recently featured on an interview on EDM Charts, makes the cut this week with My Money. This tech house track features some hip hop lyric sampling accompanied with deep bassline. Funky in nature, My Money has a smooth flow that we are coming more familiar with from this upcoming artist.
